Parlez-vouz francais? Maybe not yet, but the Alliance Francais hopes to change that. The french language school for all ages is hosting an open house for little francophiles to explore the centers kid-friendly programming. They'll participate in story times, mini classes and a theater performance.
Bring all the holiday cheer you can contain to Kiddie Academy of Gainesville's Winter Carnival where families can spend the afternoon playing games, taking pictures with Santa, riding trains, and decorating gingerbread houses. No grinches allowed!
Santa is cool, but at this holiday festival kids can also get up close and personal with the Snow Queen, Jack Frost (on stilts!), and Ebenezer Scrooge. Upping the joyful vibe, carolers will be mulling around and there will be plenty of hot chocolate to go around. The D.C. area boasts its fair share of holiday lighting ceremonies, but nothing beats the dazzling display of holiday lights floating in water. This annual Parade of Lights features local boat owners showing off their Christmas spirit via intricately decorated vessels. Dress warm and bring the hot chocolate—the kids will be so mesmerized they won't want to move.
Baby, it's dark outside! Let the talented Coyaba Dance Theater fill the night with light during their upbeat dance performance that celebrates the seven principles of Kwanzaa. Dress comfortably, the no one in your group will be able to resist the urge to move something—feet, hands...entire bodies—thanks to the booming drum beats.
Fire up your ho-ho-ho engines and attend Smile With Santa at Old Navy. Mr. Claus will be in all Old Navy stores for a Christmas experience that will make both kids and adults grin from ear to ear. Meet and snap pics with Santa (BYO cameras!), do kids’ activities like coloring and ornament making, and enjoy giveaways such as stickers and sweet treats.
