Starting on May 18, Bellevue’s Gunnar Nordstrom Gallery will host a special traveling exhibit of rare Dr. Seuss artwork. The Art of Dr. Seuss – Rare Editions exhibit will offer kiddos and parents alike an extraordinary look into the artistic life of Theodor Seuss Geisel and includes now-rare editions from his Secret Art, Unorthodox Taxidermy Sculpture, and Archive Collections. On opening night, national artist representative and Kirkland resident Jeff Schuffman will present a brief lecture at the gallery at 7:00 pm, providing insights into Geisel’s artistic endeavors, his unique vision, and impact on American culture. Take the fam to Twirl Cafe for a super-fun movie and nacho night! The folks at Twirl will have rotating gourmet nachos paired with their full cafe menu and kid-friendly movie snack bar. The animated G-rated movie will start at 6:00 pm (upstairs) featuring awesome sound on their large wall-projector. Arrive early to grab a seat in the cafe and order dinner. All items are inspected for quality and the sale only accepts clothing applicable to the upcoming season, making it easier to buy exactly what you need! At this grand opening celebration of Play-Well Northwest Activity Center, no sign up is required. Just stop by anytime throughout the day to tour the newest play space on the block and help celebrate with activities, cake, prizes, and fun for all! Adults and kiddos can explore the world of Play-Well and have an experience to remember. Plus, visit with the instructors to learn more about Play-Well's engineering programs, enjoy hands-on experiences with projects from the classes and take on a Battle Track challenge, fly and X-wing Glider, and more! About Play-Well: Our engineering programs are designed for ages 5+, but all ages are welcome. The Museum of Flight will commemorate Armed Forces Day with the Navy League of the United States, the Air Force Association, and the Association of the United States Army. Family events include distinguished military speakers, a country music concert, and military equipment displays. The festivities will begin with a flag raising ceremony in front of the Museum using flags of the five service branches and the POW/MIA flag. To mark the first anniversary, Chihuly Garden and Glass has partnered with the local arts community to offer four days of performances and programming events celebrating the artists and organizations that create the cultural fiber of Seattle.
