Explore the traditions of Christmas and learn how it is celebrated around the world through special performances, a visit from St. Nicholas, playtime, and crafts. Plus, create your own ornament during your exploration!
Looking for a school for your little one? At this special open house, check the school, meet the teachers, tour the classroom, and register for winter quarter. Kids are welcome to come and play! Schedule: 10 a.m.-11 a.m. for babies 11 a.m.-12 p.m. for toddlers RTG offers support and education for parents while providing enriching playtime classes for children. It’s a great opportunity for everyone to laugh, learn, play and make friends. Different sets of classes are offered including Pre-Toddler (0-12 months), Toddler (12-23 months, 21-27 months, and 24-36 months), and Family (12-36 months) . Each class focuses on specific needs for parents and children of those ages. During class, there is time for free-play, art, music, circle time, snack and parent education.
Bundle up the kiddos and head to Magnuson Park Beach for this annual holiday tradition. Enjoy luminaries, a bonfire (weather permitting), live music by the Emerald City Jazz Ensemble, and refreshments while you wait for the Christmas ship to arrive at 8:50 pm.
Beat this year’s winter blues by enjoying MOHAI’s exhibition, Drawn to Seattle: The Work of Gabriel Campanario, featuring sketches from the award-winning Seattle Times blog and weekly column, “Seattle Sketcher.” This fascinating exhibition, on view from December 21, 2013 – May 26, 2014, opens up the pages of Campanario’s sketchbook to communicate the significant locations, events, and experiences that have filled his life in Seattle. From food trucks and cyclists, to the Smith Tower and Freeway Park, Drawn to Seattle is a great way for family and friends to experience the people and places that make Seattle a vibrant urban center.
Take your kiddos to City Mouse Studio in the West Seattle Junction to visit with Santa and get the pre-Santa jitters out. Be sure to bring your camera to capture your special moment!
Put on your white duds and help ring in the light at Moonpaper Tent! Join the moon-fairies for a winter solstice lantern procession and then make your own lantern and enjoy warm cider, snacks, face painting, music, poetry and songs.
