Lace up your tennies, grab the jogging stroller and participate in this fun Memorial Day run! Participants can choose a 5k, 10k or 15k run/walk as well as a super-fun Kids Dash. The 400-meter kid’s dash (for kids ages 2-10) will start 15-minutes before race time. It’s the perfect chance to run with your kids and get warmed up for your competition. And the little tots can get their ya-ya’s out at the park while you’re taking your laps. When everyone’s done, let Spot run free in the off-leash dog park, just around the corner from the starting line. They may not get ribbons, but your furriest family members will be glad they weren’t left in the dust! Take the fam Me-Kwa-Mooks beach park in West Seattle to enjoy some of the best low tides of the year. Join a Seattle volunteer naturalist and look for amazing marine creatures, intertidal plants, and learn beach ecology. Celebrate Memorial Day weekend with a scenic 75-minute round-trip excursion through the Cascade Foothills and to Snoqualmie Falls. Take the kiddos to Woodland Park Zoo to catch the The Whizpops! perform their kid-friendly, nature-themed music live at Zoomazium. This rockin' performance is free with zoo admission or membership. About the musicians: The Whizpops! got their start as two elementary teachers that began writing educational songs for kids in their classrooms and playing concerts at local book stores to promote reading. At this annual event, the Museum of Flight will honor military service with patriotic music and a ceremony on Memorial Day. Plus, Veterans and active U.S. Military personnel will receive FREE admission to the Museum with identification. The Boeing Employees Concert Band will set the stage by performing patriotic music, beginning at noon.
