How to dress newborn girls

How much newborn clothing do you really need for your baby girl? Instead of going overboard with newborn clothes, consider stocking up on baby clothing in sizes 0-3M and 3-6M. Your little one will likely get lots of mileage out of these two sizes. Keep in mind that you can always roll up the sleeves or pant legs if baby’s clothes are just a little too big. At Zulily, we offer cute baby girl clothes such as multi-piece layette sets with super soft coordinates that cover all the basics (bodysuits, pants, headbands and bibs) for your convenience.

It’s not a bad idea to have extra one-pieces (ex: playsuits, rompers, coveralls, bodysuits) and sleepers on hand. We generally recommend getting 15 one-pieces and at least seven sleepers. This provides you with two outfits a day and one set of pajamas each night, which the baby can wear again if they wake up clean.

How to organize baby girls’ clothes

For being such small people, babies really tend to collect a lot of stuff. Use the closet for hanging up larger items like dresses and seasonal clothes like jackets and baby girl winter clothes and gear. If your closet has shelves, stash the clothes that don’t quite fit yet in bins on higher levels and label them so it’s easy to find the next size up and swap it out.

  • Use closest dividers (or drawer dividers) to help organize by different sizes and clothing type.
  • Organize baby shoes. You can use drawer divider boxes or hang shoes using a shower curtain clip.
  • Use small velvet hangers to maximize space in a small nursery. These types of hangers tend to take up less space than traditional plastic or wood hangers.

Zulily’s selection of baby girls’ clothes has you covered for each stage of her life
